Wee Scots Fish and Chippy operates as a focused fish and chips takeaway tucked into a modest strip mall on Notre Dame Drive, offering a straightforward, no-fuss experience that centers on quality and gluten-free options. This spot is tailored for anyone craving classic fried fish but looking for a lighter and allergy-conscious alternative, especially locals managing gluten sensitivities.

The atmosphere is casual and utilitarian, with an emphasis on takeout rather than dine-in. It’s the type of place you’d visit when you want a dependable, satisfying meal to bring home or enjoy at a nearby park. The subtle but distinct draw here is their commitment to a signature batter that manages to be both crisp and light without the usual greasiness — something a lot of reviewers note, highlighting how the frying feels delicate yet flavorful.

Because they source fresh fish daily from a local market, the fish fillets—particularly the haddock and halibut—come through with a fresh, meaty texture that holds up well against the batter and house-made tartar sauce. Portions lean generous, ensuring a full meal rather than a snack, and sides like fresh cut “house chips” and slaw round out the experience with a straightforward, homey feel.

One of the noteworthy points about Wee Scots is its strong appeal to gluten-free diners. The fish tacos and chicken fingers, both served with freshly charred tortillas and crisp slaw, provide a nice alternative beyond traditional fish and chips, broadening its appeal within the gluten-sensitive community without sacrificing taste or texture.

Locals stopping by often mention the friendly, attentive staff who take care to ensure you get exactly what you need, whether that’s careful accommodation of dietary restrictions or just walking you through the menu. The vibe feels practical and welcoming rather than trendy or flashy, perfect for a casual lunch or dinner pickup.

You’ll find Wee Scots busiest during typical mealtime hours, especially when locals are craving a reliable fish and chips fix with a gluten-free twist. It’s not a place for leisurely dining but a solid choice for anyone interested in fresh, thoughtfully prepared fried fish packaged for convenience and comfort.

What an amazing & rare find, in a neighbourhood strip mall of all places Gluten-free fish & chips....YES Folks, you read that correctly GLUTEN-FREE Fish tacos were superb with their special sauces & fresh crispy slaw. The shrimp and all their fish fillets were cooked up perfectly enrobed in their special GF batter that was light, airy, perfectly golden & NOT greasy My eating companion opted for their cheeseburger & even that was also amazing...tasting, juicy, freshly in-house made. Service was impeccable by all the staff but specifically to the young Lass that so warmly greeted us -and all customers for that fact. I observed her also meticulously cleaning & disinfecting tables within a few mins customers leaving. She answered all questions and brought the order tableside -all with patience & a friendly smile. This is truly heaven for anyone who is Celiac and/or Gluten-intolerant, even those who are neither. Folks, this place is honestly so good, the service is fast, friendly, the food is well-sized portions and oh-so Amazing! Its DEF worth the drive to London & has now become part of mymonthly drives down to Windsor.

Best place to get halibut and chips! Hands down. If I could give 6 out of 5 stars, I would rate 6 out of 5 stars because the food was superior than the other fish and chips restaurants I’ve been to in London, as I was told by the owner that they get their fish fresh from the fish market. Take a look at photos of the halibut and fries that I ordered for the meal. It’s literally a halibut steak. You couldn’t ask for a better fish and chips restaurant owner. His customer service is top notch. I felt like I was in a five star restaurant because of how he treats his customers with dignity and respect. And you could tell the owner of Wee Scots Fish and Chippy was a respectable business owner, because customers that were 60+ years of age were coming into the establishment as I was eating inside the restaurant. I’m talking like 10 customers in a period 30 mins. I highly recommend Wee Scots Fish and Chippy. I will be returning to Wee Scots Fish and Chippy for all my fish and chips needs!

We drove from Kitchener after reading such rave reviews of their gluten free menu. I have Celiac Disease and am always intrigued by establishments that are solely gluten free or at least 95% gluten free like Wee Scots! The fish was OUTSTANDING!! I had the fish sandwich and chips, my husband had the haddock and chips and we shared the mozzarella sticks! The fresh cut fries (chips), were cooked to perfection. The portions were very large and the establishment was very clean. We will definitely be back to try out more of the menu. The owner of Wee Scots is exceptional to talk to and is very well versed in gluten free knowledge. We 10 000% recommend this restaurant

It's wonderful to get a celiac safe fish and chip without having to drive to Stratford. The batter is so light and crispy, great texture! The portions are substantial, and the friendly staff are serious about making sure you leave full and happy. A great place for a casual meal that's completely safe.

Bring a gluten free girly for about 6 months now my favourite food is chicken fingers and when I found this place on tiktok I drove from Sarnia to try out the gluten free chicken fingers and fries and mozzarella sticks and let me tell you it did not disappoint! The chicken tenders were homemade and phenomenal you’d never know they were gluten free very juicy nice white meat and nicely seasoned there was great portion sizes as well mozzarella sticks were a 8/10 they were nice big thick sticks and I’ve never seen gluten free mozza sticks before so I was really excited to try this! I also bought a Mac and cheese to bring home and have tomorrow and I can imagine it’s also going to be a 10/10 I will definitely be back couldnt recommend this place more !

I ordered 2 pcs of haddock with fries. It comes with homemade tartar sauce and coleslaw. The fish is excellent- the batter is light - and the tartar sauce is very nice. On its own, the fish is 5/5 and if I return I’ll order only the fish. The fries tasted reheated, dried out and hard. The coleslaw is sour and industrial tasting.

We found this place a few months ago and have been back several times. Truly a phenomenal experience every time we've been. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious and really good quality. My partner is celiac and hasn't enjoyed breaded fish, shrimp and mozza sticks like that since getting her diagnosis. Their fryers are completely gluten free, which made for a stress free and delicious meal. The fish batter was crispy and light and the curry sauce for the fries is a must. Can't recommend this place enough

If you Celiac, gluten free or just anyone....you should try out this place. I can't stress enough how amazing the food and staff is. We keep looking for places because of my partners allergy. This is hands down one of the best fish and chips I have ever had in my life (and trust me I have had a lot) and being gluten free wouldn't give you the bloated stomach too. Cherry on the cake is that they have gluten free desserts too. Must try is mozzarella sticks!!!
